What is a Femme Fatale



One of the most influential Femme Fatales in recent years is Catherine Tramell in the film Basic Instinct this has automatically inspired to choose a blond actor for our Femme Fatale character. This is why we have chosen the Actress Dayana.

Another very influential Femme Fatale is Laura from the film Brick this is why we Have chosen Anna with her dark hair she will suit the part very well.

Although we haven't specifically chosen the Femme Fatale yet both of these people are our top 2 candidates for the part.


Definition of a femme fatale: A mysterious and seductive woman whose charms ensnare her lovers in bonds of irresistible desire, often leading them into dangerous/deathly situations. The femme fatale is often described as an enchantress, seductress or witch. A femme fatale tries to achieve her hidden purpose by using feminine wiles such as beauty, charm, and sexual allure.

Where does the phrase come from: The femme fatale archetype exists in the culture, folklore and myth of many cultures. It comes from the French expression "deadly woman".

Examples of femme fatales: The Lady from Shanghai (a 1947 film noir)- In this the femme fatale is actually a victim, caught in a she cant escape from.

This is a convicted spy Mata Hari who made her name synonymous with femme fatale during WW1.

Other femme fatales include; Shakespeare's Lady Macbeth, Nabokov's Lolita, Defoe's Moll Flanders.
