Why we decided against having a secretary

During the day of the shoot, we realized that there was already a lot to film and the secretary just seemed to be kind of extra and had no real importance in the film and not only this but we also wanted to focus on the relation between the detective (Steven) and the killer (Dayana) more and therefore the secretary wasn't needed in our opening sequence of the thriller.

Editing 2

Today in editing we started to look at the sound FX from soundtrack pro, we were looking for gun shots sound FX to match the shooting scene in our thriller, but none of the sounds were suitable so we decide to look for some shots sound FX online therefore instead we were editing the sound we recorded while shooting our thriller and we decided to keep the sound for type writer, sound of hanging up the phone and the quote from Dayana : I know what you did to Johnny. We also spent some time searching for the right music to put with our thriller.

StoryBoard

Finding Our Props

The typewriter is perfect for the part, not only is the sound it produces loud and clear it is also a functioning typewriter and therefore we can use it to write our title with. The typewriter is an important feature at the end of our thriller as our plan is to zoom up on the words that the detective previously wrote after he is shot by the femme fatal and she walks away.

The desk is key to indicating that the set is a detective office, it will be in the centre of the set and our detective will sit at it typing on the typewriter and making panicked telephone calls.

All of these props are old fashioned and look like the furniture/typewriter you would expect to see in a 1940s noir.

Why People Would like Our Thriller?

Our thriller would appeal to more art house type of people as well as people who are in their late 20's and up that enjoy watching old fashioned films because ours will be set in the 1940's. Our thriller would appeal to viewers who like L.A. Confidential because of the same noir theme of murders happening as police try and find out what’s happening, which will in our case be a private detective.
People who also watched the last seduction would enjoy our thriller because both have murder and a leading femme fatal actress. Even though it is set a couple years after ours watchers will still like Welcome to Suddenly because it is a noir theme.
Anyone who enjoys noir American style theme films involving murder, mystery, crime as well as detectives and strong femme fatal female leads. Our film would probably first come out in small art house cinemas because it’s not a film that would appeal to a massive audience.
It’s hard to say who would distribute our films considering the different factors. Warner Bros made L.A. Confidential and The Last Seduction was made by October films which could of possibly been the right people to distribute our film but the last film they made was in 2001. There is no one Film Company which seems to specialize in Noir films so this would be a main problem in trying to get it distributed.

Drawing of Our Set

This is a drawing of the set we want for our thriller we have labelled the props that we need for specific reasons to show this is a private detective office in order to contribute to the storyline and to emphasise the thriller aspect of the film.

Beginning to edit our thriller

So far in editing we have made a rough body of our thriller sequence on a programme called Final Cut Pro, putting together the successful cuts that were filmed on Tuesday and making them all run together smoothly. Now we are experimenting with effects and filters to make in black and white, adjusting the contrast where needed. Once this is done we will look at the sequence more critically and smooth out every detail correcting any mistakes and looking at ways to make the film look as good as possible.
